Sioux Falls Storm May 30, 2013 [PHOTOS]
The skies lit up Thursday night (May 30) across the region. Fortunately, we didn't get any severe weather out of it, but the threat was enough to shut down RibFest at 9pm and send professional and amateur photographers outside to try to capture the beauty in the threatening skies.
Our favorite was from friend and fantastic Sioux Falls photographer Dan Thorson who shared the picture above on his Facebook page that he shot at Falls Park last night. Dan is considering doing a run of prints of his photo. If you're interested in finding out more, drop by his Facebook page.
Here's some more photos from across the region:
Beth Anderson posted this photo from Tommy Bolin's final resting place in Calvary Cemetary in Sioux City, Iowa.
My niece Brandy Arneson posted this shot from out her car window near Sioux City, Iowa.
My nephew James Oldenburg posted this shot from outside Menno, South Dakota.
Rick Roach posted this one on his way home from softball in Brandon, South Dakota.
I was waiting to introduce A1A at RibFest in the Sioux Falls Arena parking lot when I took this shot.
We decided to get out of the rain at RibFest and catch some blues at Old Skoolz downtown Sioux Falls. This is the sky that was waiting for us.
Michele Hammond posted this creepy looking cloud shot near Larchwood, Iowa.
Shane Breeman submitted this awesome picture taken at Blue Mounds State Park near Luverne, Minnesota. Wow!
OK, so it's not a picture of the sky, but I liked it anyway. My friends Randy and Scott getting creative in trying to stay dry at RibFest while it rained on ZZ3's set.
It's been a weird, wild weather pattern over the past few months with ice storms, freak snow storms, and severe thunderstorms across our region; reports of two more tornadoes near Moore, Oklahoma last night; snowing in the pass in Colorado (yes really) and flooding across the state in Rapid City earlier this week. Please stay safe, but if you're out and about this summer, please keep sharing your pictures. We may just publish you on the website!
