Of nearly 300 eligible players, the Sioux Falls Skyforce added five via the draft on Saturday. Three rookies will be among the new crop vying for a roster spot.

Drafting in slot 14, the ‘Force selected Jabril Trawick in the first round, Deonta Stocks in the second round, Russell Byrd in round 3, with two picks out of Stephen F. Austin in rounds 4 and 5 in the 2015 NBA Development League Draft.

Trawick, who played four seasons at Georgetown University, started all 33 games as a senior last season and averaged 9.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 27.9 minutes while shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from three-point range. He scored in double-digits on 18 occasions and led the team in three-point percentage, finished second on the team in minutes played (921) and assists (78) while placing third in total points (299), field goals made (98) and free throws made (70).

Stocks, who played two seasons at the University of West Georgia, was named the 2014-15 Gulf South Conference Player of the Year and led the conference in scoring (22.7 points per game) for the second consecutive season. As a sophomore last season, he appeared in 30 games (29 starts) and averaged 3.7 rebounds, 2.33 steals, 2.3 assists, and 32.1 minutes while shooting 47.3 percent from the field, 82.2 percent from the foul line and 43.0 percent from three-point range.

Byrd played three years at Michigan State before transferring to Master’s College near Los Angeles where both of his parents attended. In his lone season Byrd was honorable mention NAIA Division 1 All-American averaging 19.6 points and 8.3 rebounds for the Mustangs.

Scott finished his college career in 2012 as a three-year starter at Stephen F. Austin. He has since played internationally in Germany, Argentina and Columbia.

Walker also attended Stephen F. Austin, but arrived for the 2012-13 season after Scott finished his career. Walker played two seasons for the Lumberjacks after two years at South Plains Junior College. Walker was a sixth man for the team that shocked VCU in the 2014 NCAA tournament.

In a press release, Skyforce General Manager Adam Simon says, “We’re excited to add a quality player in Jabril to the Skyforce. “Jabril comes from a great program at Georgetown and we feel his abilities, skills, and toughness are in line with the type of player we want playing for the Skyforce. The draft has provided us with five talented players who will bring different skill sets to our training camp. We look forward to getting started this week.”
