Sioux Falls Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says a son allegedly threatened his mom with a handgun Tuesday night and fled the scene.

"At some point in time, the son ended up pulling out a handgun and threatened his mom with that. Mom left the apartment and went to a neighbor's house to call police. Before police arrived, the suspect left the apartment. We know who he is. At this point, we have not found him. But, we don't believe there is a danger to anyone as well."

Clemens says it's likely the son will be charged with aggravated assault.

"At this point, we will wait until the suspect is found. Once that is done and if it takes time we will probably talk to the State's Attorney office. I guess aggravated assault would be a likely charge."

Clemens says the suspect is a 31-year-old black man, 5'6" and weighing 150 pounds.
