During Thursday's police briefing, Sioux Falls Police Captain Loren McManus provided information on the pedestrian who died after being hit by a vehicle this week.

"We are able to release the name of the victim that was involved in the car pedestrian crash at 9th and Cliff Avenue. His name is Sterling Spotted Elk. He was a 51-year-old Sioux Falls resident."

McManus says the police department continues to investigate the accident.

"Our traffic services department will be looking at the data collected when they were at the scene. They will be trying to figure out speeds, directions and things like that. They will try to piece back together what happened and try to figure out if they can learn something from it."

McManus says a 50-year-old man remains in the hospital after being struck by the car.
