Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says a Sioux Falls man was arrested after he allegedly attacked his son.

"Dad, who happened to be intoxicated, got upset with his 14-year-old son. He started yelling at him and ended up pushing his son up against a wall."

That's when the violence escalated!

"He used his forearm and put it on his son's throat, ending up choking the boy. Police were called. Dad was arrested for aggravated assault and child abuse charges."

Clemens says domestic abuse is much too common in Sioux Falls.

"Sometimes you think about husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend. But there are a fair amount of domestics that happen between parents and their children. I think alcohol was probably a big factor in this latest situation. Sometimes drugs are. Other times
it's just violence that happens."
