Sioux Falls Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says a woman is recovering after being kidnapped by her boyfriend for two days in an apartment.

"We learned from the woman there had been some kind of altercation a couple days earlier. The boyfriend kept her in the apartment. She tried to leave several times. But, every time she tried to leave he would punch her and physically keep her from getting away."

"On Monday night she was able to get outside the apartment," Clemens tells us. "She was about 20 feet away from the door. He then tackled her and began strangling her. This happened to the point when she was losing consciousness and blacking out. He then made her go back inside. Once inside, he started strangling her a second time. She was making enough noise by screaming for help---someone called the police."

Clemens says 28-year-old Charles Roubideaux of Sioux Falls faces first degree kidnapping and assault charges.
