Providing an outlet for kids to be kids, Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation presents the 23rd season of children’s theatre with eight productions at McKennan Park during June and July. By using skits both familiar and not-so-familiar, these shows will focus primarily on children’s stories, beliefs, and everyday happenings. They will involve the audience in fairy tales, music characterizations, costumes, and dance! These shows are free and open to children of every age.

There will be more shows as the season continues farther into July than in past years. Director of Storyland Children’s Theatre Michael Smith is excited about the new season that starts Tuesday June 4th. There have been audiences of up to 1000 people at the McKennan Park Bandshell. Smith and his crew are committed to providing excellent entertainment for children.

Michael Smith Explains The Storyland Children’s Theatre Concept

As far as the shows are concerned, Smith has traditionally used scripts from services that provide this type of entertainment for children. For this year’s schedule, Smith took on the task of writing a couple of the scripts himself.
