Sioux Falls Police are unsure of the motive that prompted a confrontation yesterday in central Sioux Falls. Thankfully no one needed medical help.

Police Lt. John Duprey says a 50 year-old man and his 10 year-old son were walking near 4th Street and Prairie Avenue after 5:30 Wednesday evening when 33 year-old Brian Hodkinson approached.

“Initially as he was walking towards them had a knife in his hand. The young boy was pushed to the ground at which time the older man gave chase to Mr. Hodkinson.

Duprey says Hodkinson dropped the knife during the chase, but had another multi-purpose tool with him. Hodkinson was arrested for two counts of Aggravated Assault, Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia.

The 50 year-old victim did say that he knew Hodkinson from a past encounter.
