A Sioux Falls man says he wound up in the Big Sioux River and missing his personal property after another man invited him to drink under a bridge on West 12th Street.

Police Captain Greg VandeKamp says the man told officers it happened when he was on foot and walking east on 12th Street around 8pm Wednesday:

"The victim, a 59-year-old Sioux Falls resident, was walking when he was approached by an unknown individual that asked him to drink with him under the bridge," VandeKamp explained. "The victim obliged. The next he remembers after being down there with this individual was finding himself in the river."

VandeKamp says the man told police his personal items and cash had been taken.

The suspect is described as a Native American male, five-feet-six and weighing 135 pounds, with dark hair and a mustache.
