What started as an investigation into a stabbing incident on Sunday (March 5) turned into murder charges against a Sioux Falls man after the victim died from his injuries.

Sioux Falls police issued a statement that they had responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence in the area of First Avenue and 15th Street early Sunday morning at 4:00 AM

A man suffering from a stab wound was found, treated and transported to a nearby hospital for his injuries.

Approximately eight hours later, Crimes Against Persons Commander Lieutenant Michael Colwill released an update:

The victim in the case has died as a result of the injuries sustained during this incident.  The continued investigation by the Sioux Falls Police Department has led to the arrest of Brady Richard Holter a 25 year old Sioux Falls resident.  Mr. Holter has been arrested for 2nd Degree Murder and 1st degree Manslaughter.

Police are not releasing the name of the 27 year old male victim from Sioux Falls.  They acknowledge the victim and suspect did know each other and narcotics are believed to be involved.
