Police say three juveniles from Sioux Falls were caught Tuesday afternoon trying to start a fire.

Information Officer Sam Clemens says the three were trying to set some paper on fire among some trees in the 1000 block of East 9th Street around 4:40pm.

Clemens says the young people, ages 11, 12 and 13, didn't succeed in starting the fire and nothing was damaged, but when they were found nearby they were found to be children in need of supervision, or CHINS, the police term.

He says no criminal charges were filed.
