People who hail from the midwest already know that our work ethic is second to none.

But we South Dakotans are a special breed. Especially those of us living in Sioux Falls, we are a hardy bunch. The personal finance website WalletHub agrees.

The site recently analyzed the hardest workers in 116 cities across the entire nation. Once the data was compiled, the site ranked the people in South Dakota's largest city number four on their list.

The WalletHub study found that more than 83 percent of Sioux Falls residents are in the workforce. They worked an average of nearly 39 hours a week, and nearly 9 percent have multiple jobs.

Doug Erickson, the owner of Key Staffing in Sioux Falls says those findings don't surprise him one bit. Each week on average, around 30 to 50 people walk through their door looking for work. People in Sioux Falls are eager to work. They aren't letting what's happening across the country affect them.

Erickson says, "We just keep moving on with what we're doing and how we do it, and kind of being a leader for the rest of the country to look at."

One thing Erickson tends to notice the most, people who live in Sioux Falls are always looking for a job they can excel at.

When it comes to jobs, a couple of things that always seem to work in Sioux Falls favor are; quick commute times. On average workers only have to spend about 16 minutes in the car driving to and from work.

Another big plus, jobs are plentiful at the moment in Sioux Falls. You can drive down practically any street in and find a help wanted sign. Opportunities abound for those choosing to find work.

Oh yeah, if you're wondering who edged out Sioux Falls in the hardest working cities study, look no further than the residents of Anchorage, Alaska.

Anchorage came in first, followed by Virginia Beach in second and Plano, Texas in third. Irving, Texas rounded out the top five.
