There's a reason why you never seem to call in sick for work all that often. It's because you're living in the healthiest city in South Dakota and in one of the healthiest cities in the entire nation!

Wallethub.com recently bestowed Sioux Falls with that designation.

They recognized Sioux Falls for having 9.1 percent of its population without health insurance, a food insecurity measure of 4.9 percent and an obesity rate of 27.7 percent.

Not only is Sioux Falls healthy, so is the whole state of South Dakota.

Wallethub says South Dakota ended up being one of the healthiest states in the nation.

The study showed residents in the average city in the country reported a total of 3.4 mentally unhealthy days each month and 3.7 physically unhealthy days.

Sioux Falls was significantly less however, we only reported 2.4 days of poor mental health and 2.4 physically unhealthy days per month.

It's likely those numbers can be attributed to the fact that Sioux Falls residents sought more preventative care and had more regular checkups that people nationwide. Primarily because the area’s uninsured rate is at 9.1 percent, much lower than the national uninsured rate of 14.5 percent.
