Each month the Sioux Falls Police Department runs a series alcohol compliance checks with area off-sale businesses throughout the city.

The most recent wave of compliance checks was conducted on December, 6 (2016) in the southwest part of Sioux Falls. 21 different businesses were checked, one failed.

KSFY TV is reporting that Aldi Foods on South Louise Avenue sold alcohol to a person under the age of 21 that day.

The clerk at Aldi was cited for selling alcohol to a person between the ages of 18 and 20. The employee also received a mandatory court appearance. Businesses that are not in compliance can also face the possibility of additional fines and suspension or loss of their alcohol license.

According to the Sioux Falls Police Department, the random alcohol compliance checks are conducted to protect the young people in the community.
