Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center have been recognized with two national awards for their programs on cancer awareness.  The awards are part of the Cancer Awareness Advertising Awards Program, the nation’s most elite competition recognizing the most talented marketing programs for outstanding excellence in advertising for cancer awareness.

The pink bus making its way around Sioux Falls won a Gold Award.  The "BRAVEST WEAR PINK" bus wrap featuring firefighters and cancer survivors is seen by thousands as it travels the streets of Sioux Falls. The bus is special since it spreads the message in a highly recognized signature pink design.

The "REAL HEROES FIGHT" program won a Silver Award. The unique partnership of Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and Avera Breast Center to raise breast cancer awareness featured a unique viewpoint that everyone can be a hero and that heroes can fight cancer together. This project also featured firefighters and cancer survivors together in the support of fighting cancer.

The awards were presented by Marketing Healthcare Today and Creative Images, Inc. an internationally recognized firm that has specialized in strategic health care marketing for more than 20 years.
