Sioux Falls City Councilor Makes Snow Gates Case

As a guest on Viewpoint University, Sioux Falls City Councilor Greg Jamison says that the city should move forward on snow gates.   He has even signed the petition that would bring the issue to a city-wide vote.  As a representative of the Southwest District in Sioux Falls, Jamison says the residents who speak to him regularly bray with praise over the performance of the gates during the test last year.

Jamison wholeheartedly supports these gates, even to the point of breaking down the cost per homeowner in the city.  The extra cost would be in the neighborhood of 2 to 2.5 million dollars divided across 66 thousand households making the average cost per domicile about $39 per year.  It is a compelling argument considering the time it would take to shovel a windrow of snow out of your driveway multiplied by six or eight and that would end up pretty cheap.

The other side of the argument could be opined that people are getting lazy.  "Get out there and shovel, softie!" becomes the battle cry of fitness freaks from Maple to Ralph Rogers.  The smart money should be on the snow gates.  Love them or lump them, the gates are coming.  Actually for this year some may hope for a little snow to recharge some moisture back into the ground.  Plus it would highlight the need for the apparatus for the selfish who pine for clear driveways.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.
