In light of National Tourism Week, Sarah Jennings, State Director of AARP, says Sioux Falls is a wonderful city for both residents and tourists.

"It's a great place not to just raise a family. But to come here and spend time during the retirement years or maybe a second career because there are so many different opportunities. There are also different fun and recreational activities in the community. Maybe you've had a career all your life but you want to do something different. Sioux Falls is a place to try out something new."

Teri Schmidt of the Convention and Visitors Bureau says Sioux Falls is hot!

"Tourism in Sioux Falls is worth hundreds of millions of dollars. It is millions of people coming to visit and sharing in the quality of life things that we enjoy everyday---from our park system to downtown to entertainment attractions. This is the week of celebration and recognition of the visitor industry in America."

Nationally, travel is one of the country's largest industries. According to the U.S Travel Association, travel and tourism generated two point one trillion dollars in economic output in 2014.
