In the ever changing world that is the American Association, one thing will be very familiar to Sioux Falls baseball fans when the Canaries start their 2013 in Sioux City Thursday night - the guy on the mound.

Ben Moore is back for his fifth season in a Sioux Falls uniform, his first with the team since 2011.  Moore is 2nd all-time in franchise history in wins (39), complete games (9), innings pitched (529.2), and strikeouts.

His numbers in American Association games are even more impressive: first in strikeouts and tied for first in wins all-time.  With Sioux Falls, Moore is a two-time American Association Pitcher of the Year (2010 and 2011).

2013 is his tenth season of organized baseball, his eighth in independent ball.  Moore originally signed with the Yankees as an undrafted free agent in 2003.

On his baseball passport, Moore has stamps from Tampa, Battle Creek, Trenton, Joilet, Calgary, Winnipeg, Perth, South Maryland, and Taiwan.  11 different cities in four different countries on three different continents; and while the scenery has changed, his love of the game and desire to compete at a high level hasn't waivered.

Ben Moore visited with ESPN 99.1's Jeff Harkness at the Sioux Falls Baseball Stadium this week:

Moore gets the start against Sioux City in the season opener Thursday night in Iowa at 7:05.  The play the Explorers in Sioux Falls Friday night at 7:05.
