With a new manager and new roster, the Sioux Falls Canaries are ready to open the 2015 season.

For me, the Canaries opener was the sure start to summer. We would have just finished the school year, and would celebrate it by going to the ballpark and taking in the weather. Most years the team would open on Thursday or Friday at home, but this year is a bit different.

Sioux Falls will open the season Thursday night by traveling to Sioux City for a weekend series. The two teams would normally meet in the initial series of the season, and would allow one team to have an home opener squeezed in-between. Same will happen this year as the two teams will play in Sioux City on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and they will finish the series off on Sunday at the birdcage.

Sunday's game will begin at 4:05, but the fun starts before the game. The first 1,500 fans will receive a Canaries magnet schedule. Live music and a tailgate party will begin at 2:00 outside of the stadium.

The Canaries will also host games against Quebec and Fargo-Moorhead next week. A full schedule can be found here.

Sit back and enjoy. Spring and summer has arrived!
