Sioux Falls Apartment Fire Likely Started By Power Outlet

Sioux Falls Fire Marshall Dean Lanier believes an outlet is responsible for a weekend fire at a Sioux Falls apartment building.

"The room of origin was a second floor bedroom. In that bedroom, there was a bed near an outlet. We did talk with the resident a young lady inside the apartment that was inside that room. She gave testimony to the Sioux Falls Police Department that she was injured on scene. She had some burns to her hand. In trying to see an outlet inside the bedroom she was shocked and an arc came out of the electrical outlet."

Lanier says the apartment building is uninhabitable at this time and added the fire did not damage the building structurally.
