August 9 (Friday)…OLD COURTHOUSE MUSEUM SUMMER PLAZA CONCERT SERIES…Noon-1pm at the Old Courthouse Museum.  Free, live outdoor music.  This week it’s Chris Champion, a jazz and classical guitarist.

August 9, 10, 11 (Fri, Sat, Sun)…SIOUX EMPIRE FAIR…The Fair wraps up this weekend at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.  Fair food, commercial vendors, free music on the front porch and in the grandstand, Old Mac Donald’s Farm, carnival rides and more!  Grandstand entertainment includes Hunter Hayes on Friday and a Pro  Rodeo on Saturday and Sunday.

August 10 (Saturday)…SOUNDS AT THE FALLS…Free musical entertainment from 7-9pm at the Queen Bee Mill in Falls Park.  Limited seating is available, bring your own chairs.  This week’s entertainment is The Nearly Wild Band featuring country music.  (In case of inclement weather, the show will be cancelled at 5pm.  Like Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation on Facebook and know the status of the show.)

August 10 (Saturday)…FARMER’S MARKET…There are two Farmer’s Market’s you can check out in downtown Sioux Falls on Saturdays.  The Falls Park Farmer’s Market at Falls Park across from the horse barn and the Sioux Empire Farmer’s Market located in the parking lot at 8th and Railroad.  You’ll find vegetables, flowers, jellies, meats and more.

August 10 (Saturday)…CELEBRATING FAMILIES BACK TO SCHOOL FAIR…10am-1pm at the Coliseum onNorth Main.  A free event with digital fingerprinting, health screenings, back to school information, parent tips, fun activities and a free lunch starting at 11am.  There will also be a new socks and underwear giveaway.  Children must be present with their parent or guardian for the giveaway.  (Coalition for a Drug-FreeSouth Dakota)

August 10 (Saturday)…EDITH SANFORD BIKING FOR BREAST CANCER…Three rides include a 50-mile road ride, 20-mile trail ride and an 8-mile family ride.  The ride starts at 7:30am at the Sanford Cancer Center off 17th Street.  There will be prizes, snacks and refreshments, vendor fair and live music.  Proceeds benefit the Edith Sanford Breast Cancer Foundation to help find cures, faster.  ($25 per person, $40 family of 3 or more…parents and children.)
