A last second dagger was all the Erie Bay Hawks needed to collect a heart-stopping 96-94 road win over the Sioux Falls Skyforce at the Sanford Pentagon. It soured the look of the Throwback Thursday jerseys the home team donned for the occasion.

Normally a 20-foot fade away jump shot with a hand in your face is not the optimum shot to take. If the player taking that shot is Seth Curry, therein lies the exception. Witness the greatness on video below.

Neither team was able to hold a comfortable lead as Sioux Falls (19-16) briefly led by 11 in the second half. Erie (15-21) used the final quarter to hit the clutch shots and get crucial stops to rally for the win.

However the ‘Force did stop themselves far too often with 21 turnovers to which guard Bubu Palo was in total agreement. “(Turnovers) really hurt us, because they got out in transition. Our half-court defense was very solid, but when they got easy baskets that got their flow going a little better.”

Palo was able to break down that final play that Curry completed with the much taller Scotty Hopson defending on the play. “(Hopson) even stayed down on his first pump fake. Scotty’s got size and length and contested the shot. You’ve got to give it up to Seth Curry. He just hit a great shot. Sometimes great players do that.”

Rounding up the top performers of the game, former NBA forward Austin Daye came off the bench to net 23 for the Bay Hawks, followed by Drew Crawford’s 18 and Curry who finished with 14. Curry missed his first 10 shots, but made his last four.

Hopson could not duplicate his video game numbers from two nights before against Reno, but did score 22 which you can see by scrolling down. Four Skyforce players each scored 12 points including Fuquan Edwin, Shawn Jones, A.J. Davis and Andre Dawkins. Palo finished the night with 8 points and a team-high 8 assists.

Sioux Falls will hop the bus to Des Moines for a date with the Iowa Energy Friday night. Erie will head home for a day off before meeting up with Iowa on Saturday.

Erie's Seth Curry breaks the tie and hearts of the Skyforce.

Scotty Hopson again leads the Skyforce with another stellar performance.
