Late last night a total solar eclipse passed over the Pacific Ocean and Indonesia.

Early Wednesday morning (last night to us in South Dakota) the moon blocked out the sun over the Central Pacific. Parts of Australia and Asia experienced a partial one solar eclipse.

Watch the eclipse darken the day from Jakarta, Indonesia in this video from the Associated Press.

On August 21, 2017 a total eclipse of the sun will sweep across the United States. The path of that eclipse will be very close to us in South Dakota. It will go over Wyoming and Nebraska, then south through Missouri.

In South Dakota it won't be a total eclipse, but very close. it for sure will get very dark between 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM on August 21, 2017.
