Thirty years ago a whole bunch of music celebrities, and Dan Aykroyd, got together to record "We Are the World" to raise money for African famine relief. The song was written by Micheal Jackson and recorded over a few day in January 1985. It was released March 7, 1985.

My family was on a road trip to somewhere I don't remember the day it came out. What I do remember is that the song was playing on every station, all the time, across several states.

Anyways, in celebration of it's 30th anniversary, Huey Lewis posted some behind the scenes footage from a recording session of the song. We see Huey, Kim Carnes and Cindi Lauper (who I hear is so unusual) working on their parts, Lionel Richie giving direction and MJ leading them in. Until Cindy has to take off all her jewelry, then they nail it with a little help from Kenny Loggins.

Here's the finished product.
