There is no question that we love our dogs and to show our signs of affection and love we always hug and cuddle them. Well it turns out that when you hug them, according to science, they hate it - A LOT!

After observing numerous photographs of adults and children hugging dogs, Dr. Stanley Coren, a professor of psychology at the University of British Columbia who frequently writes about canine behaviors says that the animal show signs like eye contact avoidance or lowered ears, generally suggesting they are feeling stressed out by the affection. If the dog's anxiety increases it could result in biting.

To let your dog know you love them, a pat on the head or a nice belly rub or a treat will suffice or a simple handshake will do just fine!
