The pilot, three other Sanford employees and a patient were uninjured after a Sanford helicopter hit a duck on its way back to Sioux Falls. The incident happened at approximately 6pm Thursday night.

A Sanford Health helicopter was traveling from Mitchell to Sioux Falls when it hit a duck approximately four miles south of Humboldt. After striking the duck, the aircraft landed safely south of Humboldt.

The patient was then safely transported by ambulance to Sanford Hospital by Humboldt Ambulance. After a brief inspection, the aircraft was deemed airworthy and completed the trip to Sioux Falls later Thursday night.
