Roger Waters says he's going to call for a musical boycott of Israel.

The ex-Pink Floyd singer-bassist, long a strong supporter of Palestinian causes, tells Electronic Intifada, “I am about to publish an open letter written to all my colleagues in the music industry, asking them to join me in the BDS [boycotts, divestment and sanctions] movement. This is not just to colleagues in the U.K. or U.S., but around the world."

Electronic Intifada also reports that Waters is also exploring the idea of releasing a single urging musicians not to perform in Israel, and plans to discuss the project with E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt. In 1985 Van Zandt organized musicians to record "Sun City," an all-star protest song against apartheid in South Africa.
