I wasn't sure what to expect Saturday night at the Rod Stewart concert. I've always loved his music, but I've never thought about what it might be like to see him in concert, much less when he was 70 years-old! But if that is what 70 looks and sounds like, we should all be so lucky!

He is still an amazing showman! He looks great, sounds great and he surrounded himself with an amazingly talented group of backup musicians and singers. His wardrobe didn't disappoint either and the music- -wonderful!

There was an element to the evening that was less than stellar and the explanation for it is something I don't have yet. As my friend Roxanne Heitkamp and I weaved our way through the entrance line, a Premier Center employee (whom I know well), scanned our tickets and told us they were moving a bunch of people, directed us up the stairs to get in a line descending the stairs, (if that makes any sense!)

Rox, knowing that my knees and ankles can make only one trip up any large staircase volunteered to wait in line to get our tickets. Over half-an-hour later she reappeared and we headed to our new seats, which were supposed to be better than the ones we had. They weren't. (In fact people in that section had their view of the large screen completely obscured by the speaker racks hanging at front of the stage.) But, they did have people sitting in them, (just like Goldilocks!) with tickets identical to the ones we had been re-issued!

Anyone who knows Roxanne, knows that when she encounters a situation that isn't acceptable, she is likely to do something about it. She grabbed our tickets, went back to the ticket issuers, for a lively chat and returned with 4 tickets so that Todd, Roxanne, their daughter Courtney and I could sit together. There was only one problem, these too were duplicate tickets!

A very sweet Premier Center employee took it upon herself to sort this out, and asked a couple sitting in our seats if she could move them. They kindly moved again, (this was their second move also) and we finally sat down to enjoy the show. What I'm wondering about is the number of people still in that long line that snaked up the stairs. I'm assuming that most of them missed the opening band's set and may have missed the beginning of Rod Stewart's show.

I understand that there is destined to be a period of working out kinks for any new performance facility, but at this point, I would think certain procedures would be in place for most situations. An explanation for this perplexing incident and a solution so it never happens again would be greatly appreciated!
