It finally happened!  I finally got to see one of the musicians I have admired for so many years. Rod Stewart played the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center on Saturday, July 25, 2015. The tour was called "The Hits" and that's exactly what he brought. Of course, he couldn't play EVERY hit, but he satisfied the more than 7,000 people who attended the show.

Opening the show was a group from Nashville called Runaway Saints. They mentioned they had been in Sioux Falls a few months prior. They played at The District on April 15, 2015.

Sioux Falls was the last stop on his regular tour before Rod heads back to The Colosseum at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas and he was ready to party. He kicked off the show with "Having a Party" and transitioned into hits like "Tonight's the Night (Gonna Be Alright)", and "Forever Young." Rod showed a special tribute to our soldiers on the big screen while singing "Rhythm of My Heart."

While Rod took a few breaks behind stage changing clothes, he let his backup band and singers take front and center, showcasing their talents. His backup singers performed "Proud Mary" and the crowd sang along.

Rod introduced an orchestra of local musicians who played along with him during three songs including "The First Cut is the Deepest" and 'Have I Told You Lately." The local musicians also got to come back out during the encore of "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy."

Rod Stewart is 70 years old! The guy can still looks good, still sings great and can still kick a soccer ball.

One of the highlights of the show was when Rod kicked soccer balls into the crowd.  My friend Doreen caught one.

Here are a few videos my friend Dusti took during the show. These are embedded Facebook videos, so they might take a little while to load if you're looking at them on your phone. If you still can't see them, you'll have to look at them on a desktop computer.
