Sometimes I feel like the Sioux Falls fan club president for Sioux City's Rockestra, but that just shows how impressed I am with this talented group of individuals.

If you've never made it down to see this Hall of Fame group (they were inducted into the Iowa Rock Hall last summer!) do yourself a favor and make the short drive to Sioux City's Orpheum Theatre this Saturday evening as their theme is "We Are Family".

I know for a fact there will be songs from the Doobie Brothers, Kansas' "Carry On Wayward Son' and many more songs that you'll know, done by what really is a 45 person rock band.

Rockestra features two lead guitarists, two drummers, a bass player, keyboard player, additional percussionists, at least a dozen person string section, a half dozen or more horn section, and more than a handful of superb vocalists. It's really impressive when you consider this is a volunteer band from people that all have families, full time jobs and are in other bands (some of them in about FOUR other bands!)

The passion and fun that comes from their performances is payoff enough for a music lover like me, but they do such a fantastic job of nailing these classics they take on, it's a great show for music fans of all genres and ages.

Here is the link for tickets. The weather is supposed to be good for the weekend. Step outside your comfort zone and take a short trip to Sioux City to see some really talented people. Who knows. You might actually have fun!

Here's a video from one of their shows from last year, covering Ozzy and 'Crazy Train'
