The Grateful Dead have moved on from "Ripple" and are now set to start selling beer -- as part of a new deal with Dogfish Head Brewery.

American Beauty, which is described as a strong pale ale, won't hit stores until next fall, in part because the Dead and Dogfish Head are teaming on an effort to add a special twist to the tipple. Representatives of the band and the brewery are asking fans and lushes alike to submit ideas for a secret ingredient to make the beer identifiably Dead-like. The winner will be invited to help brew the first batch.

Dogfish Head has issued several rock-themed brews in the past, including the Pearl Jam-inspired Faithfull and the Robert Johnson-centered Hellhound. Wines bearing Jerry Garcia's name have also been on the market for several years.
