Police say a man tried to rob a casino on South Western Avenue in Sioux Falls at knifepoint early Wednesday, but he ran when an employee activated a panic alarm.

Officer Sam Clemens says the incident was reported at Happy Jack's Casino, at 3705 South Western when the man walked in shortly after 1am.

He says the man showed a kitchen knife to the clerk and demanded cash, but the clerk hit the panic alarm.

When she told him the police would be on their way, he left without getting any cash.

Clemens says the would-be robber was described as a Hispanic or Native American male, five-feet-four inches tall and around 170 pounds.

He wore an Oakland Raiders cap and a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Two other people who were in the business at the time were not involved, and no one was injured.
