Road Construction Projects Slated to Begin in Sioux Falls on Monday
Starting on Monday, September 9, the following road construction projects are slated to begin:
The center turn lane on Louise Avenue will be closed at Teem Drive. Traffic will be maintained in both directions at all times. Q3 Contracting will be performing utility work. The work is anticipated to be finished by the evening of September 16, 2013.
The westbound lanes on 57th Street near the intersection of Klein Avenue will be reduced to one lane to allow work on street improvements. Two eastbound lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times. Also, Klein Avenue at the intersection of 57th Street will be closed.
The 57th Street lane closure and Klein Avenue street closure are expected to be removed by Friday, September 13, 2013.
The City of Sioux Falls Public Works Department will be starting on Phase 3 of the Kiwanis Avenue project between West 12th Street and West Second Street. Traffic will be shifted to the southbound lanes of Kiwanis Avenue so construction may begin on the northbound lanes.
The eastern leg of Ninth Street and the Eighth Street intersection at Kiwanis Avenue will be closed. Detour signs will be placed to direct traffic over to Western Avenue. Due to the extra traffic being diverted to Western Avenue, the intersection of Ninth Street and Western Avenue will be a temporary 4-way stop. The intersections are expected to be reopened by Friday, September 13, 2013.
Construction crews will begin work on the retaining wall north of the intersection of Tenth Street and Sycamore Avenue. Work will include removal and replacement of the retaining wall block. Expect intermittent lane closures on the outer lane north of Tenth Street. This project is expected to be completed by the end of September.
The outside eastbound lane of Benson Road will be closed at Saint Paul Avenue to allow construction crews to make a water main connection and replace some concrete pavement. This lane closure will be in effect daily between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Motorists are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling through the work zone. This work is expected to be completed by Tuesday, September 10, 2013.
The prime contractor for this project is First Rate Excavate, Inc. of Sioux Falls.
