With the warm weather comes the orange barrels. The City of Sioux Falls has announced numerous road closures and detours in and around town.

Street Closure – West 22nd Street

Beginning on Wednesday afternoon, April 13, 2016, after 4:00 p.m., West 22nd Street will be closed from South Menlo Avenue to South Walts Avenue. The City of Sioux Falls Public Works Department will be repairing a water service and anticipates being completed by 8:00 p.m. the evening of Wednesday, April 13, 2016.

Road Closure – North Phillips Avenue

Beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016, North Phillips Avenue will be closed between West Fifth Street and West Sixth Street. Northbound and southbound traffic be detoured to Main Avenue. Gil Haugan Construction will be performing crane lifting and anticipates being completed by the afternoon of April 14, 2016.

Lane Closure – Fourth Avenue

Beginning on Thursday morning, April 14, 2016, both northbound lanes will be closed on Fourth Avenue between 40th Street North and Benson Road. Head-to-head traffic will be maintained in the southbound lanes keeping traffic open for northbound and southbound. Xcel Energy will be performing utility work and anticipates being completed by the evening of Thursday, April 14, 2016.

Main Avenue Road Diet Construction Begins

Construction will begin on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, to make the Main Avenue road diet permanent. The project will include construction of curb extensions at pedestrian crossings, and streetscape improvements that includes brick pavers, site furnishings and landscape improvements. The construction will be located on the east side of Main Avenue from Eighth Street to 11th Street and including the Carnegie Town Hall parking lot.

The city reminds drivers to use caution and reduce speeds when driving through construction areas.
