RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Rapid City police arrested a 13-year-old boy after the youth allegedly punched a school bus driver in the head.

Police spokeswoman Tarah Heupel (HY'-puhl) tells the Rapid City Journal that the boy was causing a disturbance on the bus Monday afternoon and became angry when the driver told him to sit down. She says the boy punched the driver and knocked off his glasses.

The driver was not seriously hurt. The boy was arrested for simple assault and a probation violation. He was not identified because of his age.

School policy calls for up to a 90-day suspension for a student who assaults a staff member.
