The first e-mail service to really take off back in the 90's, has met it's end. Hotmail has officially been replaced by Outlook.com

Hotmail was founded in 1996 and was sold in '98 for $400 million to Microsoft. The service still has over 300 million users but was beginning to fall behind in technology with smartphones, tablets, and all the new bells and whistles from Google and Apple.

The new upgrade is being touted as being more user-friendly with updates from Twitter, Linked In and Facebook. Former Hotmail users should see the new Outlook rolled out to them this week. As with everything, it's evolve or die.
