Activists are planning a Black Lives Matter demonstration that could disrupt business as protesters bring their message to the Mall of America on December 23, 2015.

Organizers want to draw attention to what they say is a racially motivated police shooting in November of Jamar Clark, a 24 year old black man.  Police were responding to an assault situation.

The mall sought a court order blocking the planned protest. A judge barred three organizers from attending the demonstration but said she doesn’t have the power to prevent others from showing up to demonstrate.

Last year, Black Lives Matters protesters gathered at the Mall of Amercia closing stores and driving away Christmas shoppers.  The Mall is considered private property.

Bloomington police have not said what security measures the mall may put in place to curtail the protest this weekend.
