Although the city of Sioux Falls is spraying for mosquitoes, Health Program Coordinator Denise Patton says residents can take steps to protect themselves from mosquitoes.  Here are some of them:

Drain standing water to stop mosquitoes from multiplying.

Cover your skin with clothing and use mosquito repellent.

Cover doors and windows with screens to keep mosquitoes out.

Limit outdoor activity  when mosquitoes are most active.

Fill in holes or dips in the ground that collect water.  Level the ground around your home so water can run off.

Denise Patton says citizens wanting to report local concerns on mosquitoes or standing water should leave the information on the automated mosquito reporting hotline at 605 367 8799,
