Presho Man Who Allegedly Killed Daughter’s Dog, Kidnapped Her Seeks New Site for Trial

PRESHO – A South Dakota man facing state charges for allegedly kidnapping his daughter and killing her dog in front of her on her birthday wants his trial in a related federal case moved from Pierre to Aberdeen.
Clinton Brown, of Presho, is charged federally with being a felon and drug user in possession of a firearm. The Daily Republic reports he’s pleaded not guilty and is to stand trial next month.
His attorney says in his motion for a change of venue that news coverage of the case will infringe on Brown’s right to a fair trial if it is held in Pierre. A judge will decide later.
Authorities allege Brown was under the influence of methamphetamine and marijuana when he kidnapped his 10-year-old daughter last August and abused her.
