You may have seen the signs around the intersection of 18th and Sycamore Avenue on the east side recently announcing the start of road work on Tuesday (August 1).

Here's what is happening: sanitary sewer repairs will be performed on South Sycamore Avenue at the intersection of East 18th Street.

Work will include removal and replacement of the existing concrete pavement, replacing sanitary sewer manhole in addition to extending approximately 200 feet of sanitary sewer line to the north.

What this means is that Sycamore Avenue will be limited to one lane at times for both directions for through traffic. The intersection at 18th Street will be closed to through traffic, drivers may want to consider alternate routes.

Work is expected to take about two weeks.
