It looks as if the winter season has been extremely fortunate for Sony now that its official sales records have been revealed.

PR Newswire reports that Sony has collectively sold more than 5.3 million PlayStation 4 consoles around globe between Nov. 15, 2013 and Feb. 8, 2014. Now that the rush to get a PS4 has started to die down, we're expecting that the system will still continuously sell for those who were simply waiting for the holiday rush to get next-gen systems have simmered.

What is even more awe-inspiring of the 5.3 million PS4 consoles sold is that it the system has yet to officially debut in Japan yet. The PlayStation 4 does not launch in the Japan until Feb. 22. Given the PlayStation 3's dominance over the Xbox 360 in Japan, we're expecting that once Feb. 22 hits, Sony is going to be raking in a lot of money.
