Lisa Simpson is one.  Stephanie Tanner was too.  We all know Jan Brady had issues with Marcia because of it.  I'm talking about the middle child and middle child syndrome. According to Middle Child Personality.com, middle child syndrome is a condition in which children born in the middle experience feelings of emptiness, inadequacy and jealousy. It is also characterized by low self-esteem and extreme introversion, sometimes even leading to psychotic behavior.

One day a year is set aside to make the middle kid feel wanted.   Today (August 12), is National Middle Child's Day.  A day to celebrate your birth order!

Tonight at the Sioux Falls Canaries game at the Birdcage, it's International Middle Child Night.  The game starts at 7:05pm against the New Jersey Jackals.  There will be middle child-themed music throughout the night, middle child graphics and videos between innings and mound visits and other surprises.

According to Bruce Hopman, the founder of the International Middle Child Union:

After complaining about being the odd man out, this is a chance for us to share our night with the entire family, but the Middle Child gets to be the hero for a change, instead of getting blamed. Who knows, maybe this will change the whole family dynamic!! The next day, we can go back to being cast aside and ignored."
