The next time you're ticking away the moments that make up a dull day, frittering and wasting the hours in an offhand way on the Internet, you can take some of the guesswork out of which websites are reporting your activity to the government.

A new add-on for the Firefox browser, the Dark Side of the Prism, plays cuts from Pink Floyd's 'The Dark Side of the Moon' whenever a visitor ventures into a corner of the web -- such as Facebook, Bing or Google -- that's been named as part of the ongoing scandal over the National Security Agency's Prism program of secret data-harvesting.

It's a nifty idea, and one that its creator, Justin Blinder, says took a mere four hours to program. In fact, adding the Floyd portion of the program was kind of a whim. As he told the Guardian, "I just Googled 'Prism' and the 'Dark Side of the Moon' cover came up."

Once Blinder made the connection, the music seemed like a natural fit. "I didn't want it to be too jarring, because a lot of us seem to be giving in to being surveilled on a daily basis," he explained. "I feel like people already know that. I didn't want it to be alarming."

If you're interested in keeping an eye on Big Brother while listening to classic Floyd, you can add Dark Side of the Prism to your Firefox installation here.
