Paul Bunyan: The New Face of Minnesota Health Care
Health care is heating up in Minnesota, and Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox are all over it. The gigantic mythical logger and his trusty, blue beast are the focal point in wild ad campaign pushing state-run health insurance, a campaign that features the pair getting injured in regional accidents involving sledding, ice fishing, and chopping trees, even getting attacked by woodpeckers.
Needless to say, the Bemidji mayor is not amused.
To have him be a “doofus”, it doesn’t make sense for us. We kind of think of Paul as stately and handsome and representing a proud era of timber production in our community.”- Mayor Rita Albrecht
State officials insist the ads are meant to be humorous and memorable.
