Have you noticed an increase in the amount of heartburn symptoms lately? Do the joints in your legs feel swollen or do your legs just tingle? The cause of these may surprise you, and may cause one of today's hottest fashion trends to soon require a warning label.

Skinny jeans have been the leg wear of choice for many women and men, but doctors are now warning those who make these their favorite clothing item, that skinny jeans can be bad for your health.

According to medics in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, a 35-year old woman recently developed a condition called compartment syndrome and had to be cut out of her skinny jeans because of bleeding and swelling in her leg muscles.

Combined with squatting for hours and then standing up and down for an extended length of time, the woman's calves ballooned in size, causing her feet to go numb and making it impossible to walk.

This isn't the first time that skinny jeans have prompted doctors to consider slapping a warning label on them, however. Other researchers have identified cases where patients have developed pain or tingling in their thighs. And men who wear skinny jeans just might need an extra warning label.  Medical experts say skinny jeans can lead to an increase in the amount of urinary tract infections in both women and men, but men should be warned that skinny jeans, in some of the worst cases, can even lead to cases of twisted testicles.

Tight-fitted, skinny jeans have also been blamed for an increased amount of cases of heartburn, because of extra pressure on the abdomen, pushing stomach acids upward.

But even though many in the medical field are calling for warning labels to be added to skinny jeans, it's important to know that many of the symptoms are all part of the "perfect storm" of circumstances, and that wearing a pair of skinny jeans for a good-looking rear-end just might be more important to women and men then health risks.
