Tuesday night the Yankton Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance call involving a gun at a Yankton residence at around 10:00 PM.

When the police arrived the subject of the call was gone. Multiple officers from different agencies searched for over an hour for the subject.

The search ended in an alley in downtown Yankton resulting in Yankton Police Sargent Jason Foote shooting the armed subject.

The injured subject has been identified as 19-year-old Trae Allen Angel of Yankton. He was taken to a local hospital where he is being treated for injuries.

At the request of the Yankton Police Department the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the officer involved shooting.

After the investigation the DCI will issue a case report and shooting summation that will be reviewed by the Attorney General for a final determination on the officer’s action. The release of the summary is anticipated within 30 days.
