While most of us head back to work to start the new year, some of the top golfers in the world are heading to Maui. But, this isn't a vacation, they'll be working at the first PGA Tour stop of 2016.

In this edition of "Off The Tee" with Joel Harrington from 4 Deep Golf Blog, we talk about the dawning of a new year of golf and some of the changes that come with it.

Some of the headlines:

  • The first event of 2016 is the Hyundai Tournament of Champions featuring last year's tour event winners. Jordan Spieth and Jason Day are in the field, Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose are not. Who does Joel like to win at Kapalua?
  • Some big name players like Zach Johnson and Brooks Koepka are starting the year with new equipment. Does Joel think this is more about golf or money?
  • The 2016 season will feature a number of big events, including Chaska, Minnesota playing host to the Ryder Cup in late September, but one of the early highlights will be Bubba Watson teaming with Mark Wahlberg at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am next month. Other celebrities include Andy Garcia, Ray Romano, Wayne Gretzky, Steve Young, Toby Keith, and Larry 'The Cable Guy'. Sadly, Bill Murray isn't in the field this year.
