The Dakotas recorded no official reports of children who died from abuse or neglect from 2008 to 2013.

North and South Dakota were the only Northern Plains states to report no deaths during the period.
The Associated Press recently surveyed all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the military for information. The AP reports that 786 children died because of abuse or neglect.
Northern Plains states’ results: Iowa: 2; Minnesota: 6; Montana: The AP says it did not provide data but they found one death in a criminal case; Nebraska: 2 (no data for 2013); North Dakota: 0; South Dakota: 0 and Wyoming: 0.
