Nirvana Covers The Cars in Their Final Concert

Sometimes you read things or hear things and wonder: Did that really happen?

Well this one, as unbelievable as it sounds, did happen 20 years ago this month – March 1, 1994.

The place was Munich, Germany and what happened on stage that night turned out to be far more historic than anyone in the audience, or on stage, could have known – it was the final concert for Nirvana.

That March night in Germany, the kings of grunge rock opened with a very unlikely tune: a cover of The Cars ‘My Best Friends Girl’:

35 days after this show, lead singer Kurt Cobain took his life and the band was done.
