Next Thirty Days Will Set Stage for Next Band of Skyforce Brothers

Year two of the partnership between the Miami Heat and the Sioux Falls Skyforce is underway.  Based on the success of year one, even equaling that standard will be difficult much less trying to surpass.  

New coach Phil Weber will be called upon to shepherd the 2014-15 gang through a minimum 50 game slate.  Over the next month, the Skyforce player possibilities will become more fully formed.

One component of the on-court product will be returnees from last year’s playoff team that eventually lost to the eventual champion Fort Wayne Mad Ants.  Another is the NBA Development League Draft with the appropriate amount of wheeling and dealing involved.  A third element would be the players on the Miami Heat training camp roster who do not make the team, but sign with the NBA Development League.

In previous years, that number was three, but a recent rule change could expand that number to four.  To read more about the Draft Rights Rule click here.

Last year the Miami Heat sent two training camp players (Larry Drew II, Justin Hamilton) to Sioux Falls for seasoning and one of them (Hamilton) got signed to the NBA.
